Sumroot began as an idea born out of both love and necessity. When I was caring for my grandfather, who had dementia, I often found myself overwhelmed—juggling elder care, home maintenance, errands, and daily life. I didn’t need full-time help, but I did need help: someone to walk my dog, mow the lawn, sit with my grandfather for an hour, or simply lighten the load.

Finding that kind of support—quick, trustworthy, and local—was harder than it should’ve been.

That experience planted the seed for Sumroot.

The name is a tribute to my grandparents, Paul and Ruth Summitt. They were deeply influential in my life, and their love, strength, and generosity are woven into the heart of this project. “Sumroot” is a combination of their last name and the idea of being rooted in something real—family, community, and connection.
